Dogs welcome, large or small, one or more. A Greyhound haven!

The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

Please ring for an appointment to come and see the greyhounds and have a chat. You are most welcome, but as we run a bed and breakfast it is essential you ring and arrange a date and time to visit.

others want to give more. We are quite flexible with this, and with this we provide:

Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.

Went to his new home on Wednesday 5th September 2012.

Bobby's arrival and a brief history

Black Greyhound
Bobby is a handsome black greyhound who was 3 in May. House trained, neutered, inoculated and microchipped, Bobby is a very friendly and happy dog who will make someone a lovely companion.
Bobby , who is currently being fostered with Pat and her family is a happy, loving dog, walks nicely on the lead, travels well in the car and from what we've see so far he is fine with children and other breeds of dogs, however, he's not sure about small dogs if they approach off the lead, or with an 'attitude'. In order to socialise him with these smaller ones, we've been placing a muzzle on him so he can meet the dog and smell that it is a dog, once he's worked out it is a dog then he seems to be okay and often end up best of friends, but he just needs that confidence to work out it is a dog, but a different shape to him, and putting a muzzle on him is perfect.

Bobby's Diary
12th July 2012
This afternoon Bobby's racing owner brought him here for us to foster and find him a forever home as a family pet. Bobby is a very handsome greyhound with a lovely happy and friendly character.
19th July 2012
Today we went to visit mum in hospital and came back to find we had a dog missing. Bobby had shut himself in the bathroom and made a bed from the bath mat and towels. Bless him!
20th July 2012
Bobby went to the vets this morning for his first inoculation and to be neutered. He weighed in at 34.6k and the vet said he was fit and well. The neutering went fine, but he was kept in the vets until Meg, who was having a dental was okay to leave and they came home together. One of the veterinary staff took him for a walk in the park in the afternoon, which he enjoyed and by the time he arrived home at 8.00pm he was raring for his tea. Once eaten, he wandered around the garden to do his toilet and then settled to his bed for the evening, non the worse for having his operation.
10th August 2012
It was all switch today because with Candy being returned, and
Alice coming here we felt Bobby was the best candidate for Pat to foster. Bobby is a really happy, friendly dog and we shall miss him here, but we are sure he will enjoy his new foster home and all the excitement of a new routine and meeting new people. Character building, I call it. We wished him well as he walked off with Pat to her car, and had a little sigh because we shall miss his lovely, friendly character.
13th August 2012
We received an email from Pat this morning letting us know  what a little star Bobby is. He's slotted in to Pat's house beautifully. Stairs are no problem. He's been clean in the house and gets on well with the Remy and Hendrix. He has a good appetite, settles well at night and in the morning Pat gets a cold nose in her ear. He walks nicely on the lead, but can be a bit pully when he sees another dog, which may just be moving to a new environment.
Yesterday they all attended a dog show at Eden Animal Rescue and had a great time. He behaved really well and he met a couple of Patterdale terriers and made friends with another couple of greyhounds. He also befriended a couple of collies and travelled back in the car with them and Remy, not a cross word between them. All in all, Pat says he's lovely, and he is settling in well with them.
20th August 2012
Heard from Pat today letting us know that Bobby enjoys his walks and he walks well on the long lead. He's had a couple of problems with meeting other dogs. Pat usually walks him not to close, but if they come up to him he lunges and tries to nip them on the neck, he can't hurt them because of the muzzle, but they get a fright. Once the initial contact is made he settles down and it's like they're old friends. However, she feels if he doesn't have the opportunity to greet other dogs he won't overcome whatever makes him like this. He gets on lovely with children, toddler types, and the other dogs - Jet, Kira etc. He's doing well on the stairs and he enjoy his food.
24th August 2012
Received an email from Pat letting us know that  Bobby continues to do well. They went ghyll scrambling today, which he seemed to enjoy, they didn't go too far or too high.
Bobby's face is healing well following his tussle with the cat who came wandering in their garden.
He's walking nicely on the lead, but they are still having to be careful when strange dogs approach, especially those off the lead and those who come at him 'in his face'.To help with this Pat is muzzling him so she can allow him to go for walks where there are lots of dogs and to enable him to socialise safely.
2nd September 2012
This afternoon a couple called in here to see Bobby with a view to adopting him. Pat brought him here, and once he's explored our garden to make sure all is still okay here he came in to meet the couple and later went for a walk with them.
5th September 2012
This lunch time Pat arrived with Bobby and he met his new owners who he remembered from a couple of days ago. Once all the adoption paperwork was complete and a walking out coat and house collar purchased off he went with his new owners to his new home. As they were driving away Bobby looked at us from the car window, something which always gives us a sad pang, however, we are sure Bobby will be fine and we wish him a long and happy life in his new home.
14th September 2012
Bobby's new owners say he's settling in very well, like they've had him for years! His tail, where he injured it is driving him crazy, so it must be healing and itching. He managed to get the dressing off last Wednesday and made it bleed again, so it's been re-dressed and hopefully he will leave it alone now.
He loves trips out in the car and walks (twice a day). He also has a ravenous appetite with Cornflakes for breakfast most mornings!
30th September 2012
We heard today that Bobby's tail has at last healed up even though he split it again two weeks ago, which put things back a bit. .He goes in the car most days and goes out twice a day for walks. His new owners say it seems like they've had him for years. They don't hear a peep from him at night and he eats really well. He's a very loving dog and likes nothing better than following them around and curling up at their feet at night - they think it's all the treats he gets!
3rd October 2012
We heard today that Bobby is very happy with his new owners and thriving.
24th November 2012
Yesterday while Bobby and his owners were walking in Stanley park, Blackpool a photographer asked if Bobby could pose for a picture with a gentleman in front of a 1938 Rolls Royce Phantom 111 Sedanca De Ville by H.J.Mulliner, the only example built. She will be 75 years old next February.
23rd December 2013
We received a Christmas card from Bobby's owners letting us know that he is doing very well, has two long walks a day, rain or shine, and he loves it.
20th December 2015
We heard from Bobby's owner today via Facebook that Bobby's all ready for Christmas, guarding his stocking under the Christmas tree. He's doing very well and is like a spoilt child.
