Dogs welcome, large or small, one or more. A Greyhound haven!

The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

VISIT THE BRANCH by APPOINTMENT ONLY

CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER A GREYHOUND FOR US?
Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact Jenny or Stuart

Brindle Greyhound
Gypsy is a brindle ex-racing greyhound who has a lovely sweet nature. She weighs 28.2k, is house trained, inoculated, speyed and microchipped. She walks nicely on the lead and travels well in the car.

Went to her new home on Monday 30th January 2012

Gypsy's Diary
9th January 2012
This morning Pat collected Gypsy from her original owner and brought her here so we could take photographs, check her earmarks and details and flea and worm her, all of which is normal practice when a new dog arrives.
10th January 2012
Gypsy has been fine with Pat's dogs Remy and Hendrix (whippet) and today she met Jet another whippet and the children he lives with. She seems to be settling in fine and taking everything in her stride.
11th January 2012
This morning Gypsy went to the vet where she weighed in at 28.2k. She had her first inoculation and was given some eye drops for her left eye, which the vet says will cure the low lying ulcer in it, and which has been causing her eye to run and irritate her.
16th January 2012
This afternoon Pat took Gypsy to see a lady who is interested in adopting Gypsy and she fell in love with her the moment she saw her.
18th January 2012
This morning Gypsy went to the vet to be spayed.
21st January 2012
Today Gypsy visited the vet to have her spay stitches and sore eye checked. Both were doing fine and healing nicely.
30th January 2012
This morning Gypsy went to the vet for her stitches out and her 2nd inoculation. Once done off she went to her new home, one which overlooks the beach. Gypsy is a lovely girl and we wish her a long and happy life in her new home.
8th March 2012
This morning we received a photo of Gypsy happily running along the beach near her home. What a happy girl she looks.
7th May 2012
Gypsy and her new mum are enjoying their daily walks on the beach just a few yards from their home.
8th May 2012
We heard today that Gypsy had her new mum awake at 4.30 this morning nuzzling her to get up. She told her to go back to bed as it was too early, yes, she went, but her mum could hear Gypsy's sighs getting louder and louder until she gave in and got up!!
