Dogs welcome, large or small, one or more. A Greyhound haven!

The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

Please ring for an appointment to come and see the greyhounds and have a chat. You are most welcome, but as we run a bed and breakfast it is essential you ring and arrange a date and time to visit.

others want to give more. We are quite flexible with this, and with this we provide:

Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.

Joey is a very handsome and lovely natured black ex-racing greyhound who is being fostered with Jenny and Stuart along with their greyhounds. He was born on the 27th October 2008 and is house trained, neutered, inoculated and microchipped. Joey is a very friendly dog, loves to play and be cuddled, He loves children and from what we've seen so far is fine with other breeds of dogs.

Went to his new home on the 21st July 2012.
Joey's Diary

11th June 2012
This morning Joey arrived with Rosie who he's lived with for a while. Both were kept on the lead while we introduced them to the garden to do their toilet then let our greyhounds out one at a time to say hello to them. All the greeting done and we brought them in the house where they could settle.
18th June 2012
Joey is such a loveable chap and, if given the chance, will jump on our bed and lay down for a cuddle with you. He really enjoys laying with his head on you having his neck and shoulders stroked. Stuart isn't too happy with this because we try hard not to allow the dogs on the bed because with having so many we can't get in and we got fed up of half the garden being in the bed when we got in. Therefore, the bed is out of bounds to the dogs, but Joey is adament he wants to lay there for a cuddle, which I must admit I love, but I do see the point about all the foot prints on the bedding if it became a free for all for all the dogs.
20th June 2012
Joey paid a visit to the vets this morning where he weighed in at 29.6k, and have his first inoculation because he came with no paperwork and was neutered. All went well and we collected him this afternoon and brought him home where he settled quietly on one of the dog beds to sleep things off as he was still a bit wobbly.
I wasn't going to make him anything to eat when I started feeding the others, but he was waiting with them, so I made him a little food, which he enjoyed. Once finished he settled once again and has a restful evening to recover from his ordeal.
16th July 2012
Something must have happened here while we were looking for Abel yesterday because Joey wouldn’t go anywhere near Bobby last night and is keeping well shy of him today.
18th July 2012

This morning we took Joey to the vet for his second inoculation.
21st July 2012
This afternoon Joey's new owners called in to sign all the paperwork and adopt Joey. When they arrived he was very pleased to see him, and once everything was completed he walked with them to their car and jumped in the back and lay on the hammock suspended there. He had no qualms about going with them and we wish him a long, interesting and happy life with his new family.
25th July 2012
We received an email today letting us know that Joey is settling in. He seemed to enjoy the sandy beach at the weekend and was quite happy to follow his new ownere into the water for a paddle. He was very interested in all the other dogs and people around him, but then again he might never have been on a beach before! He was still very well behaved as indeed he has been since he joined them.
