Greyhounds in long-term fosterer homes:

CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER A GREYHOUND FOR US?

Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact Jenny or Stuart
T: 015395 52394 or email us for more information

DOG WALKING

Stevie's arrival and a brief history

White and black greyhound
Stevie is a young white and black greyhound who came into rescue before his training was complete due to kennel circumstances. He weighs 30k and was born on the 18th July 2010. Stevie is quite a stunning dog who walks nicely on the lead and travels well in the car.
Being only a young dog he is full of character and needs plenty of toys, both soft and hard to play with otherwise he will find other things around the house to amuse him, some which you might not want him to play with!

Went to his new home on Friday 15th June 2012 .

Stevie's Diary
15th May 2012
This afternoon the lady who has been looking after Stevie for a month since taking him from the kennels brought him here for us to foster and to find him a nice forever home. She said his coat was a little yellow because she believed he'd been kept on straw. It had gone paler, but was still there. If it isn't straw then we are not sure what it is that's given his coat a yellow tinge.
18th May 2012
This morning Stevie went to the vets where he weighed in at 30k. He was at the vets for a general check up, his first inoculation because he came with no paperwork and to be neutered.
1st June 2012
Stevie took a trip to the vets today for his second inoculation, thus bringing his inoculations up to date.
8th June 2012
This afternoon Stevie, who we were fostering, went to Pauline and Colin's where he will be fostered until he finds his forever home.
10th June 2012
Pauline gave Stevie a good bath today hoping the yellow tinge on his coat would disappear, but not the case. A friend is bringing her some whitening shampoo she uses so they are going to try this another day.
15th June 2012
This afternoon Stevie's new owners called to collect him and take him home with them. He had met his new owner while she was helping Pauline walk the dogs so Stevie knew her and happily went off to his new home where we hope he has a long and happy life.
5th July 2012
We heard today that Stevie is settling in well in his new home and is getting to know his commands now.
20th August 2012
We heard today that Stevie went back to vets on Friday who said to keep him on lead walks so he doesn't pull the claw and his on another ten days antibiotics.
16th October 2012
We received a couple of photographs. One of Stevie resting on his new owner's bed and another with him resting his head on his new owner's slipper - he looked very happy and content.
25th November 2012
This evening after the annual Christmas Fair at Newton in Furness Village Hall we received some photographs of Stevie in his new bedding coat and sleeping on his new bed. He looks very posh! His new owner says he is settling in fine and is getting to know his commands now.
8th December 2012
This message came via Facebook:
"Winter cuddles ... I'm laid in bed Stevie comes and finishes off my corn flakes then jumps in between my legs an puts his head on my tummy. I don't mind were keep each other warm - still working with no heating on.
