Dogs welcome, large or small, one or more. A Greyhound haven!

The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

Please ring for an appointment to come and see the greyhounds and have a chat. You are most welcome, but as we run a bed and breakfast it is essential you ring and arrange a date and time to visit.

When adopting a greyhound the suggested donation is £150.00 which goes towards neutering, inoculations, upkeep etc. Some people give a little less, while
others want to give more. We are quite flexible with this, and with this we provide:

Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.

Triggs's arrival and a brief history

Black Greyhound
Triggs is a handsome black ex-racing greyhound who was born on the 1st September 2010 and weighs 34.5k.
Triggs is house trained, neutered, microchipped and inoculated. He is a very friendly and faithful dog who will make someone a lovely companion. From what we know of him he has no vices, is okay with children, and other breeds of dogs, but not too sure if they come running at him 'in his face', but then who does? He walks nicely on a lead, loves being stroked and cuddled and travels well in a car

Triggs's Diary
17th November 2013
Triggs arrived this afternoon and while his owner / trainer was telling me about him Triggs went off round the garden to explore. When he came back he had some food and we took some photographs of him. Not the best I admit, because it was drizzling with rain and going dark.
Since Triggs retired from racing he's been living in his owner / trainers house, so is house trained and tells you he wants out by going to the door and looking over his shoulder asking you to open it.
Triggs has a lovely shiny coat, a nice nature and stands by your side asking for a stroke. When his trainer left he wanted to go with her, but I brought him in the house and gave him some cuddles to distract him.
He got on well with all our greyhounds and when it came to bed time he went outside with all the others to do his toilet, then back inside he setted down for the night. He whimpered around 1.30am and I let him out, but he didn't really want to do anything, just wanted to know we were stil around. After that he settled and we didn't hear a word from him until the morning.
18h November 2013
This morning Triggs visited the vet to be neutered where he weighed in at 34.5k. All went well and we collected him in the afternoon and brought him home.
23rd November 2013
This afternoon Triggs went off to his new home where we hope he has a long and happy life. Triggs is a real gentleman, and even though his new family have never owned a dog before they know we are on the end of the phone should they need to chat or ask a question - and Tiggs will guide them well. He's a super dog and we shall miss him - 6 days with us just wasn't enough!
March 2014
We received a phone call letting us know that Triggs was settling in fine and enclosing some photos of him running on the local beach and sand dunes.
27th June 2014
We heard today that Triggs is very settled in his new home and they are very happy with him.
A couple of months ago Trigg's dog walker changed, and although his owners hadn't realised at the time they now realise he seems much happier and is more settled going out with his new one.
