Greyhounds in long-term fosterer homes:

CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER A GREYHOUND FOR US?

Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact Jenny or Stuart

Black Greyhound
Gus is a black ex-racing greyhound who was born in 2009.
He is a very loving and laid back dog who walks nicely on the lead once the initial excitement of going for a walk is over. He also travels well in a car, and is house trained, neutered, inoculated and microchipped.
Gus came here from a local Rescue Centre because it was felt he stood a much better chance of finding his forever home in a place specific to re-homing greyhounds. He was at the centre for about 6 months when a home was found for him. Sadly he was returned because he jumped from the garden over a very low fence, which his new owners said they would raise then decided not to. When Gus returned to the Rescue Centre he looked very sad as he walked across the paddock, and hence him coming here where he will be fostered until we find him a new home.

Gus's Diary
29th December 2014

30th December 2014
This afternoon a gentleman and his father came to see the greyhounds with a view to adopting one and taking it home with them.
Gus very quickly chose them and having taken him for a walk asked if they could adopt him. Everything was okay with their home and gardens, so off Gus went to his new home where we hope he will have a long and happy life. We couldn't believe we'd re-homed him so fast - we'd only had him 24 hours and was fully expecting to have him much longer.
This evening via Facebook we received a photo of Gus relaxing in his new home just 15 minutes after he arrived there.
31st December 2014
We heard today that Gus likes chickens - as friends, not dinner!
He met most of the 'gang' this morning, horses fine, chickens fine, but a little keen on the Silkie Bantams - well they do look like toys !!! His initial meeting with them all went well and he had a good walk in the paddock. Gus woke his new owner this morning at 5.30am wanting to go out, then at 7.00 am they went for a walk, he was clean all night!!
10th January 2015
Gus's new owner says he loves being in the house, and was wondering if he'd been in one before he came to us because he's settled in so fast.
7th February 2015
We heard today via Facebook that Gus's new owner thinks he's is a real star. He's got over the honey moon stage and has started to follow his new owner everywhere and wants to be his best buddy. He's also more settled and is quiet and not stressed at all. They love him and they are sure he loves them to.
