Dogs welcome, large or small, one or more. A Greyhound haven!

The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

ADOPTING A GREYHOUND

When adopting a greyhound the suggested donation is £150.00 which goes towards neutering, inoculations, upkeep etc. Some people give a little less, while
others want to give more. We are quite flexible with this, and with this we provide:
Martingale Collar, Lead, Muzzle and 4 weeks free cover with the insurance company PetPlan

CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER A GREYHOUND FOR US?
Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact Jenny or Stuart

Black Greyhound
Rex is a good looking black ex-racing greyhound, who through no fault of his own has been in rescue kennels the past 2 years. As the kennels no longer operate we were asked if we could have him here because he was becoming depressed so he will stay with us and enjoy foster care until we find him his forever home.

Went to his new home on Thursday 1st May 2014

Rex's Diary
* The branch kennel at the bottom of our garden is where Rex and the other resident(s) will be for the first day or so until he gets to know the other greyhounds. He has use of our garden and paddock, and once he gets to know the other dogs he will be allowed in the house during the day and all the dogs will then take it in turn to sleep in the house at night, so they become use to sleeping in both the kennel and the house.

17th April 2014
Rex arrived this afternoon at 2.30pm. He was very quiet and just wanted to stay in the kennel. This we didn't mind because we were warned he did similar in the other kennels prior to his arrival. We will see how he goes and let him settle in his own time. Hopefully very soon he will realise this isn't quite so bad a place to be and start exploring the garden and meet the others.
27th April 2014
With Molly going to her new home this morning we brought Rex in the house from the kennel this afternoon. He very quickly settled and was fine with the other dogs.
1st May 2014
This morning Rex and Ajax's new owner called to collect them. They both gave him a lovely greeting and once all the paperwork was complete off they went with him in his car to their new home. We hope they will both have long and happy lives together with their new family.
2nd May 2014
We received an email today with pictures of Rex and Ajay relaxing in their new home.
10th August 2014
We received an email today letting us know that the boys are doing great and are really in a routine now – woe betide their owners if they try to change things!  Walks, dinner and bed are all done at exactly the same time. They are so adorable but can drive their owners mad at times, but they love them a lot.  They are all off to Scotland for a week in September and they are all looking forward to that.
