The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.

Eva - Fawn Greyhound
Eva is a lovely fawn ex-racing greyhound who was born on the 23rd December 2010. She weighs 26.9k, is spayed, inoculated and microchipped. When it was discovered Eva was cat trainable she was re-homed to a family on the 15th February 2015. However, we have been told the cat was none too happy about sharing the house and displayed agressive behaviour towards Eva. After just a week of being in her new home it was thought in her best interest, and to restore peace with the cat that she be returned to 'rescue'. She came to us because we have families looking for a cat trainable greyhound so she is one of the contenders.

Eva's Diary
* The branch kennel at the bottom of our garden is where Eva and the other resident(s) will be for the first day or so until she gets to know the other greyhounds. She has use of our garden and paddock, and once she gets to know the other dogs she will be allowed in the house during the day and all the dogs will then take it in turn to sleep in the house at night, so they become use to sleeping in both the kennel and the house.

21st February 2015
Eva was an unexpected arrival this evening. We received a phone call this afternoon asking if we could take her in knowing we had some families looking for a cat friendly greyhound. She had been re-homed by another branch of the RGT in the north the Sunday before, but things hadn't gone as planned - her new owner's cat made it very clear she wasn't wanted and they were concerned it may attack Eva.

26th February 2015
It was a nice afternoon so we took Eva in the side garden to take her photo because the back was very wet and churned up. She watched the goats grazing in the field the other side of the road and the traffic as it passed, so we got some lovely photos of her.
The spells when Eva has been in the house with the other two new girls since their arrival has improved significantly, so much so that tonight, while we went out for a meal with friends they stayed in the kitchen area while we were out. To be on the safe side they didn't mingle with the other six in the living room, but the three of them who are used to each other lay on a dog bed in front of the kitchen fire and slept. We were out just over 3 1/2 hours, they gave us a lovely welcome upon our return and there were no accidents or signs of distress at all.
4th March 2015
This afternoon Eva went off to her new forever home where we hope she will have a long and happy life.
She needed a helping hand into the back of the car, but once in she quickly settled and was laying down by the time the car set off.
This evening we heard from Eva's new owner via Facebook that all was going well. Eva seems happy with her bed, ate her tea nicely and didn't gulp it down. Just back from their walk, and she walks so beautifully on the lead. just settling down now in front of the fire.
5th March 2015
Heard this morning there was not a peep from her last night and no accidents! Blending in with the sofa nicely !
19th December 2015
We heard today that Eva loves playing ball! She has settled in quickly, is not an early riser, enjoys her walks and loves cheese snacks. She has been with them 9 months now and they would not be without her, which is lovely to hear.
