The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER A GREYHOUND FOR US?
Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact Jenny or Stuart

Johnny - Black & White Greyhound
Johnny is a black and white greyhound who was born on the 13th September 2013.
Johnny weighs 31.8k, is neutered, inoculated and microchipped. He has a lovely nature, is an affectionate, playful lad who travels well in the car. He didn't want to take part in racing, hence him coming into 'rescue' - he could run, but he just wanted to play and wouldn't focus on the task in hand.

Went to his new home on Sunday 11th October 2015.

Johnny's Diary
* The branch kennel at the bottom of our garden is where Johnny and the other resident(s) will be for the first day or so until he gets to know the other greyhounds. He has use of our garden and paddock, and once he gets to know the other dogs he will be allowed in the house during the day and all the dogs will then take it in turn to sleep in the house at night, so they become use to sleeping in both the kennel and the house.

9th September 2015
This morning Johnny took a trip to the vet and weighed in at 31.8k.

11th October 2015
This afternoon Johnny's new owner called to collect him and complete the adoption paperwork. He gave her a lovely welcome and when the time came to leave he happily walked down the drive to her car ready for the journey to his new home where we hope he will have a long and happy life.
20th October 2015
We received an email today letting us know that all's well with Joey who has settled down even more now. He has become laid back to the point of horizontal, usually on his back with his legs in the air! And, he sleeps through the night now. He's loving all the different walks his new owners do and has made acquaintance with a number of local dogs. They say it's great to see him striding out, tail in the air like he owns the place.
He is such a well behaved boy too apart from his new party trick which is to get hold of the cover on the day bed and pull it and all the cushions off. So funny! But if he's told 'No' about anything he never does it again.
He loves their cuddles and knows he can snuggle up any time he wants.
20th October 2016
Today we received an email from Joey's owner letting us know all was okay and saying:
"Do you remember our handsome boy, Joey (Jonny)? He has been the most wonderful addition to our household and we just couldn't imagine life without him. I've never had so much fresh air and exercise! It's usually me making him go out rather than the other way round though. He loves running on the beach and has made lots of friends in the village. He has given a new lease of life to my parents too. Their faces light up when they see him. Can't thank you enough for letting us have him."
