Greyhounds in long-term fosterer homes:

CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER A GREYHOUND FOR US?

Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact Jenny or Stuart
T: 015395 52394 or email us for more information

DOG WALKING
Would you like to walk a Greyhound?
Volunteers offering to take a Greyhound for a walk, an afternoon out or a stop-over play a very important role here at the branch.
please contact Jenny or Stuart T: 015395 52394 or email us for more information and to see how you can help.

Hawkeye's Diary

20th November 2016

3rd December 2016
We received an email today letting us know that:- "Hawky had settled in very well here with us. He loves walks by the river and digging amongst the piles of fallen leaves. We've practiced off lead on the green outside our flat 'stay' and 'come on'. He's getting better at both, as well as jumping in and out the car, and 'off'.
He's met many local neighbour dogs, and befriended them - although we always keep him on the lead when he's around them. We've started to take the muzzle off him when we go for walks. He's seen cats while we've been out. He perks up and shows interest, but never pulled or dived towards them. Sure that would be a different story if he was off lead!
We took him to see Ken in Leigh last weekend, and he says he does have a bad hip, so we'll keep a close eye on that. We've registered him at a local vets this morning.
He's been spending time at work with me, and loves the people in the office. He has the choice of 2 sofas to sleep on, but usually sleeps on a pile of blankets and a duvet by my desk."
