CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER A GREYHOUND FOR US?

Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact Jenny or Stuart

Maxi

Maxi arrived on Monday 15th August 2016.
Went to his new home on Thursday 29th September 2016 where he lived happily with a Staffie
and Jack Russell. Sadly Maxi was returned to us on Thursday 6th October 2016 because he was
finding it difficult to handle all the different breeds of dogs associated with his new owner's work.
Went to his new home on Sunday 16th October 2016.

Maxi is a super black ex-racing greyhound who was born in January 2012, He is house trained, neutered, inoculated and microchipped. He has a beautiful calm nature, loves being cuddled and sleeping on our bed in the peace and quiet, walks nicely on a lead, shows no interest in other breeds of dogs, is okay with children and travels well in a car. What a super dog he is.
Maxi was re-homed on the 29th September with a Jack Russell and a Staffie but was sadly returned a week later. He was perfect in the house and got on well with his new companions but when he went to work with his new owner, work which involved being around other breeds of dogs, many off lead he found himself outside his comfort zone and he became very unsettled.

Went to his new home on Sunday 16th October 2016.

Maxi's Diary

3rd September 2016
We had a new greyhound arrive yesterday, which meant it was going to be crowded in our living room so I decided to put 3 in the kennel to sleep last night, but which 3? I took the new one and Donna in to find Maxi following me. He just walked in and made himself at home so he became the third one. When we turned the light out he just went to sleep. I think his calming nature helped settle the others because they also went to sleep with no whimpering.
This morning we let them all in the garden to do their toilet. Maxi did his then went back in the kennel and settled down. He soon jumped up though when I walked in and we both went back in the house with the others. What a star he is!
