The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER
A
GREYHOUND
FOR US?
Fosterers are a valuable part of
greyhound rescue in that another
greyhound is
living life away from
the kennels and taking the first
steps towards getting used to
the family
way of life. If you live in the South
Lakes or the
surrounding area and
would like to
foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact

Stephan is a handsome male brindle ex-racing greyhound who was born on the 1st July 2013 and weighs 28.7kg. He is neutered, inoculated and microchipped. We are told he has a nice nature, is okay around children and walks nicely on the lead. The kennel Stephan came from had a collie X and he was used to him milling around the kennels. Since being here he's been out for a walk with a terrier whom he was interested in, but we never let him get too close because by this time the terrier was getting fed up and turning somewhat grumpy.
Went to his new home on Saturday 1st April 2017.

Stephan's Diary |
16th March 2017
20th March 2017
Stephan went to the vet today for a check up and he was put on additional antibiotics because one of his wounds felt a bit warm and he had a slight limp. Other than that he's fine and his potential new owners had the go ahead to visit on Saturday and take him out so he could get used to being with them and their other greyhound Amy.
1st April 2017
This afternoon all the adoption paperwork off went Stephan with his new owners to his new home where we hope he will have a long and happy life.
3rd April 2017
We received an email today letting us know that everything is going so well, they can't believe how quickly he's adjusting and how settled he is in such a short time!
The attached pictures say a lot - the upside down one was only 45 minutes after first entering the house! He got out of the car and met Amy on the driveway which was a very happy and friendly greeting on both sides, then we went for a walk before going in the house.
The photo of them together was Saturday evening, and they were both clearly happy to be that close.
The third one is just a funny one, his owner was clearing some carrier bags out of the drawer in the kitchen yesterday, put them into the pantry out of the way for two minutes while they were making their dinners, and he wanders over and decides they were a bed and gets comfy!
They say he's a really nice lad, seems very well adjusted, and is also bright and is picking things up very quickly. He and Amy are being very good together, she has shouted at him a few times but he is a quick learner. They have had a play a few times already, including both mornings at 7am when they're excited to be up and going in the garden, so that's been great to see.
He's definitely food orientated and eats his food crazy fast so hoping that calms down when he realises there's no competition as Amy is not fussed over food. He's slept right through both nights too.
Overal they say he's fitting in perfectly and is making things much easier than they were ready for. He's still very keen when he sees dogs out walking, more so than cats so far, but nothing worrying and they are sure it'll just take time, they will keep exposing him to the sight of them, and then start to introduce meeting them, and give him as long as he needs. He's certainly spending a lot of time upside down!
What lovely news to receive!
