Dogs welcome, large or small, one or more. A Greyhound haven!

The voluntary work Jenny and Stuart started in July 2004 is a memorial to their darling Penny. Without her coming into their lives none of this would have happened.

VISIT THE BRANCH by APPOINTMENT ONLY
Please ring for an appointment to come and see the greyhounds and have a chat. You are most welcome, but as we run a bed and breakfast it is essential you ring and arrange a date and time to visit.

ADOPTING A GREYHOUND

When adopting a greyhound the suggested donation is £150.00 which goes towards neutering, inoculations, upkeep etc. Some people give a little less, while
others want to give more. We are quite flexible with this, and with this we provide:
Martingale Collar, Lead, Muzzle and 4 weeks free cover with the insurance company PetPlan

CAN YOU TEMPORARILY FOSTER A GREYHOUND FOR US?
Fosterers are a valuable part of greyhound rescue in that another greyhound is living life away from the kennels and taking the first steps towards getting used to the family way of life. If you live in the South Lakes or the surrounding area and would like to foster a greyhound until we can find him or her a new home.
please contact Jenny or Stuart

GREYHOUND PUPPIES
18th May 2008
3 days old

Mum lay in her own 'maternity unit', which is sterile to give the puppies a good start at this very vulnerable time. They lay on lots of spotlessly clean bedding with heat lamps above to keep them warm. Whilst they are so tiny a wooden frame has been placed around the sleeping area so as to prevent Mum from laying against the wall and accidentally trapping one behind her.

The puppies at this stage weigh about 20 ounces each, have their eyes closed, their little pink feet will eventually become white and they can't walk so they crawl or 'slither' their way around. With their little bellies full of milk and being the colour they are they reminded me of three little velvety moles crawling around!
Mum was just perfect as her babies climbed all over her searching for milk and squeaking to communicate with her. Mum didn't mind us being there and each time her owner turned a pup to face the camera the puppy did a 'U' turn determined to crawl back towards the smell of her mum, warmth and safety. The only time they happily lay away from her, or on top of her was when their little bellies were full of milk and for the time being they were content.

Bella will probably become a fawn Greyhound.

Eva will probably become a blue brindle Greyhound who has a very tiny white tip on the end of her tail, all the toes on her front left foot are white and there are signs she will have a white mark on the side of her nose.

Ella will also probably become a blue brindle Greyhound and has a much larger white tip to her tail. Her front left foot and one toe ¼ white and her two middle toes are ½ white.
